The education sector in Western Uganda has seen a significant improvement in enrolment and academic performance, thanks to the efforts of the government and various stakeholders in the region. This improvement has been evident in both primary and secondary schools, with more children attending school and performing better academically.
In an interview with the Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni, she expressed her delight at the progress made in the education sector in Western Uganda.
“I am pleased to see the improvements in the education sector in Western Uganda,” says Hon. Museveni. “More children are attending school, and their academic performance has significantly improved. This is a clear indication that our efforts to improve the education sector are bearing fruit.”
Hon. Museveni attributed the success in the education sector to various initiatives by the government, including the Universal Primary Education (UPE) program, which provides free education to all primary school children in the country.
“We have made significant investments in the education sector, particularly in providing free education to all primary school children through the UPE program,” she said. “This has increased enrolment in primary schools, and we are now seeing the results of this investment in improved academic performance.”
In addition to the UPE program, Hon. Museveni also highlighted the government’s efforts to improve the quality of education through teacher training and infrastructure development.
“We have been providing training to teachers to ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills to deliver quality education to our children,” she said. “We have also been building new schools and improving existing ones to provide a conducive learning environment for our children.”
The improvement in the education sector in Western Uganda has not gone unnoticed by stakeholders in the region. Parents, teachers, and education experts have also noted the significant progress made in recent years.
“We have seen a significant improvement in the education sector, particularly in the number of children attending school and their academic performance,” says Grace Kyomuhendo, a parent in Western Uganda. “I am pleased to see that the government’s investment in education is paying off.
