Empower Youth in Technology (EYIT) has officially announced the rebranding of its flagship media skilling program Online Media Academy to the newly named Digital Media Academy, signaling a significant expansion in the scope and vision of the program. This strategic move reflects EYIT’s commitment to staying at the forefront of digital media and technology training for young people, preparing them for dynamic careers in the fast-evolving digital landscape.
The Digital Media Academy will offer a more comprehensive curriculum designed to equip young people with essential skills in not only digital content creation but also in TV production, advanced video and audio editing, graphics design, and the use of cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) in media. These changes align with the program’s mission to empower the next generation of digital media entrepreneurs and professionals with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive.
According to EYIT Founder Tushabe Ronard, the rebrand was motivated by the academy’s growth and the need to reflect a broader focus beyond online platforms.
“The shift from Online Media Academy to Digital Media Academy reflects our expanded approach to media training,” he said. “We’re not just teaching people to work online; we’re equipping them with the skills to produce high-quality content for TV, and other digital platforms, using the latest tools like AI.”
The rebranded academy will also focus on fostering media entrepreneurship, giving participants practical business skills to build successful careers in digital media.
Since its inception in 2022, EYIT has trained over 30 young people in TV and radio production, social media influence, and digital content creation. The 2025 cohort will focus on developing proficiency in OBS/VMIX software, professional camera usage, AI-assisted content creation, and much more.
With this rebranding, EYIT continues to build on its mission of empowering young people through technology. The academy is expected to welcome two cohorts in 2025 (January to February and June to July), who will undergo two months of intensive training followed by three months of post program mentorship with EYIT Media for at least two high performing candidates.
The rebranded Digital Media Academy marks a new era in digital media training, bringing young creators one step closer to becoming the leaders of tomorrow’s digital world.
