CCR Golden Jubilee Conference: Celebrating 50 Years of Spiritual and Economic Renewal

The CCR Youth Golden Jubilee Conference marked a significant milestone in the history of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Archdiocese of Mbarara, Uganda. It was a jubilant celebration of 50 years of existence, a journey that had profoundly impacted both the spiritual and economic well-being of the people.

Over these five decades, the Renewal had not only nurtured spiritual growth but had also played a vital role in fostering economic development. The conference featured sessions on faith finance (financial literacy) and training programs in organic farming, underlining the multifaceted approach that had defined the Renewal’s mission.

With deep gratitude, the Archdiocese of Mbarara looked back on half a century of spiritual and economic transformation. Mbarara had become the spiritual center, aptly named “Yesu Ahurire” (Jesus is Alive), an offspring of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. The journey began in Mbarara, shifted to Mushanga in Sheema Kabwohe, and ultimately found its home here. Yesu Ahurire had evolved into a spiritual haven, transforming lives along the way. It had instilled prayer in those who were unfamiliar with it, nurtured Apostles, educated individuals in reading and interpreting the Bible, and provided much-needed counseling and guidance.

The achievements of this jubilee were undeniable. Faith had been rekindled, fostering a deeper understanding of spirituality. The sense of harmony that emerged from collective prayer had strengthened the community, enabling effective collaboration. People had learned to articulate their thoughts, express gratitude, and find solutions to their challenges. The youth, comprising the largest demographic in Uganda, had been a focal point, ensuring that the Church would sustain itself in the years to come.

The conference’s activities were primarily spiritual in nature, commencing with the youth ministry and later with the adult groups, which played a pivotal role. Simultaneously, the children’s ministry also made its debut. The division between these two groups was deliberate, reflecting the unique teachings tailored to their respective needs.

The CCR Youth Golden Jubilee Conference encapsulated five decades of spiritual and economic renewal. It showcased the incredible journey of the Archdiocese of Mbarara, emphasizing the importance of nurturing faith and community in an ever-evolving world. As the celebration unfolded, it was a testament to the enduring impact of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and the hope it offered for the future.
