In an exclusive interview on Prime Talks, Rev. Fr. Dr. Deus Karemire, the Vice Chancellor of the University of St. Joseph Mbarara, shares insights into the upcoming graduation ceremony and the university’s unique initiatives.

In anticipation of the third graduation ceremony at the University of St. Joseph Mbarara, the Vice Chancellor, sheds light on the institution’s journey and the preparations underway for the milestone event.

Vice Chancellor, could you provide us with a brief overview of the University of St. Joseph Mbarara and its journey leading up to the upcoming graduation ceremony?

Certainly. The University of St. Joseph Mbarara, established in 2018 under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Mbarara, has been a beacon of hope for students from low-income backgrounds seeking higher education opportunities. Initially offering 11 accredited academic programs, the university has expanded its offerings to 21 programs, with this upcoming ceremony marking the third graduation event.

With the graduation just around the corner, how are the preparations shaping up?

We are in full swing with preparations, ensuring that all aspects of the ceremony are meticulously organized. From readying the grounds to finalizing academic documents and distributing graduation booklets, every detail is being attended to. Graduates have received their gowns, and special invitations have been extended to key stakeholders, including the esteemed “pillars” of the University of St. Joseph Mbarara.

Could you elaborate on who these “pillars” are and their role in the university’s growth?

The pillars of our university represent individuals from diverse backgrounds who bring invaluable expertise and support to our institution. They play a pivotal role in facilitating our growth through strategic planning, idea generation, and crucially, resource mobilization. As a private institution, we rely on external support to realize our development initiatives, such as the completion of our teaching facilities.

What distinguishes this year’s graduation ceremony from previous ones?

The hallmark of this year’s ceremony lies in the integration of the inauguration of the university’s pillars. This innovative addition underscores our commitment to fostering collaboration and support within our community, setting this graduation apart as a celebration of not just academic achievement but also collective progress.

How soon can graduates expect to receive their certificates and transcripts post-graduation?

Understanding the importance of timely documentation for employment opportunities, graduates will have access to their certificates and transcripts immediately following the ceremony. The Office of the Academic Registrar will ensure a seamless process for graduates to obtain these essential documents.

Finally, what message would you like to convey to the attendees and viewers of the ceremony?

I extend heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, including graduates, parents, and distinguished guests, for their unwavering support. As we embark on this momentous occasion, I urge everyone to join us in a spirit of gratitude and reflection, beginning with a thanksgiving prayer followed by the formal proceedings. Together, let us celebrate the achievements of our graduates and reaffirm our commitment to excellence in education.

As the University of St. Joseph Mbarara prepares to commemorate its third graduation ceremony, the anticipation and enthusiasm are palpable, heralding a new chapter in the journey of academic excellence and community engagement. Watch full Interview video on EYIT TV
