PrimeTalks Unveils the Visionary President of Lion’s Club Mbarara: Ln. Benard Kakuhikire

In a recent episode of Prime Talks, EYIT TV hosted Ln. Benard Kakuhikire, the President of Mbarara Lion’s Club. As the visionary leader took center stage, he shared insights into his role, the Lion’s Club mission, Governors vist and impactful projects within his tenure.

Ln. Benard, could you enlighten our audience about Lion’s Club and how one becomes a Lion?

My name is Ln. Benard Kakuhikire, the President Lions Club of Mbarara. Lion’s Club is a global service organization dedicated to specific causes like visual restoration, environmental conservation, youth leadership, diabetes awareness, hunger relief, and disaster response. To become a Lion, individuals can join and actively contribute to our service-oriented initiatives.

Thank you for the overview. I’m curious about your title as an MJF. What does MJF signify, and how does one attain this recognition?

MJF stands for Melvin Jones Fellow. Lions Club members contribute $1,000 towards the International Foundation, supporting global service projects. This contribution aids initiatives worldwide. There are progressive levels of MJF, symbolizing additional contributions. I’m on the first level and aspire to progress further.

As President for six months, what achievements has your club realized under your leadership?

Leadership is a collective effort, and our club has accomplished significant milestones. Initiatives include cancer runs, youth engagement, environmental projects, diabetic screenings, and comprehensive eye care in collaboration with health institutions, impacting over 200,000 individuals.

Impressive! Speaking of eye care, tell us more about the Comprehensive Eye Care Project and its impact.

This project addresses various vision-related challenges, providing screenings, cataract surgeries, and awareness programs. We’ve served over 200,000 people in the East African region, thanks to contributions from Lions worldwide.

With such impactful projects, what’s in store for Lion’s Club Mbarara this year?

We focus on five principal areas monthly, covering cancer, food, education, environment, and more. While cancer, especially pediatric cancer, holds a special place, our commitment extends to diverse service areas.

Hosting Governor Dr. Stanley Bubikire is a significant event. What preparations are underway?

We’re hosting the governor in two phases—his annual visit to our club and the district cabinet meeting. Preparations are in full swing, showcasing our achievements, discussing challenges, and receiving guidance for future endeavors.

What can Lion Club members expect from the governor’s visit?

The governor will address our focus areas, provide guidance, and assess our progress. It’s an opportunity for collaboration, learning, and reinforcing our commitment to Lionism.

As we wrap up, any message for the viewers regarding the governor’s visit?

Let’s welcome the governor warmly, showcasing our achievements. I invite everyone to join Lion’s Club and contribute towards community service. Together, we can make a significant impact.

In closing, Prime Talks salutes the Lion’s Club of Mbarara for their outstanding service and welcomes Ln. Benard Kakuhikire’s call to unite for a better community. Stay tuned for more visionary conversations on Prime Talks. Watch the interview video on EYIT TV
