In western Uganda, a group of young people is leading the way in promoting clean energy solutions in cooking. Through their efforts, they are reducing the dependence on traditional fuels like charcoal and firewood, which have a significant impact on the environment and human health.

One of the beneficiaries of their work is a rural family that has long relied on charcoal for cooking. With the help of the youth group, the family was able to install a clean cookstove, which has brought significant improvements to their daily lives.

According to one of the family members, Jane Aine, the new cookstove has made a huge difference in their household. “Before, we had to rely on charcoal for cooking, which was not only expensive but also unhealthy. The smoke from the charcoal would fill our house, making it difficult to breathe. Now, we have a clean cookstove that uses renewable energy, and our house is much healthier,” she said.

The youth group has been working closely with rural communities, educating them on the benefits of clean energy and helping them to install clean cookstoves. Their efforts have not only improved the health and well-being of local residents but also reduced the impact of cooking on the environment.

“We are grateful for the youth group’s support in bringing clean energy to our community. It has improved our lives and the environment around us,” added Aine.

The youth group’s commitment to promoting sustainable living and reducing the impact of climate change has not gone unnoticed. They have received recognition from local leaders and environmental organizations for their contributions to the community.

Their efforts demonstrate that young people can be a driving force for change in their communities. Through their work, they are creating a better future for themselves and those around them.
