BSU Innovation Club Launches at Bishop Stuart University in Mbarara with EYIT Partnership

The innovative spirit soared high as Bishop Stuart University (BSU) proudly unveiled its Innovation Club in Mbarara, marking a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and technological advancement among its student body. In partnership with Empower Youth In Technology (EYIT), the launch ceremony witnessed a confluence of ideas, inspirations, and commitments to shape the future of innovation in Uganda.

The inauguration ceremony kicked off with a series of auspicious events, commencing with welcoming remarks by the club speaker and the rendition of the national anthem of Uganda. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as participants gathered for prayers and speeches from key dignitaries, underscoring the importance of innovation in driving socio-economic growth.

 

Addressing the audience, the Club President expressed gratitude to EYIT for their unwavering support and commitment to nurturing the club through comprehensive training programs. Introductions from the club committee set the stage for an engaging discourse on innovation and entrepreneurship.

Tushabe Ronard, Director of EYIT, articulated the organization’s vision to equip university students with the requisite skills and knowledge to thrive in the realms of entrepreneurship and innovation. He outlined EYIT’s commitment to supporting the club through initiatives such as the Startup Garage Program, which offers ideation workshops, exchange programs, and pitch competitions to nurture budding entrepreneurs.

Ankunda Best Arnold, the Guild President, reiterated his commitment to student empowerment, aligning the objectives of the Innovation Club with his manifesto promises. He welcomed distinguished guests, including the President for Inter-Associations Clubs and the Minister for Agriculture and Production, underscoring their pivotal role in facilitating the club’s registration process within the university.

The audience was captivated by Kabanza David’s impassioned discourse on entrepreneurship, emphasizing the transformative power of seizing opportunities and cultivating resilience. His thought-provoking question challenged young minds to reflect on their roles in realizing their dreams, igniting a sense of purpose and determination among attendees.

The highlight of the event was the address by Chief Guest Atuhaire Gad, Co-founder of Silgad Investments Ltd, renowned producers of Red Star Wine. With profound insights, he underscored the practicality of innovation in driving business success, debunking myths surrounding the need for substantial capital and emphasizing the primacy of ideas in the innovation process. He delineated the steps of product development, inspiring young innovators to harness their creativity for tangible outcomes.

 

Amidst fervent applause, the launch culminated with keynote speakers signing the club banner, symbolizing a collective commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship. As cameras flashed to capture the historic moment, participants departed with renewed zeal, poised to embark on a journey of discovery, creativity, and impactful change.
