On Saturday 25th Feb 2023, The Bishop of Ankole Diocese Rt. Rev. Dr. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa presided over a thanksgiving service for the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs/ UPDF at Kololo ceremonial grounds.

It was held under the theme; “Greater love has no one than this, that a man can lay down his life for his friends extracted from John 15:13.
The chief guest was H. E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa accompanied by Maama Janet Museveni the first lady and Minister of Education and sports.

Bishop Sheldon Mwesigwa who was the guest speaker appreciated UPDF for discipline in view of the most recent 4th integrity survey report compiled by UBOS that ranked Police, Courts, District Service Commissions, and Health Services in that order as most corrupt with UPDF not featuring among worst public service institutions.

He commended UPDF for involving in social economic activities and community service.
He appealed to UPDF and all service industries for sacrificial leadership emulating Jesus Christ, especially decrying the corruption in most institutions saying, “Sadly many of the most highly paid are the most corrupt”.

H. E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa called for free education of the children of fallen soldiers in army schools and institutions. He also said he has never believed those who say there is no God, but he also has had issues with religious people who are hypocrites.

A cross-section of about 2000 Security and political leaders attended the event. Maama Janet Museveni led a dedication prayer to the nation, UPDF, and the President.
To God be the Glory.
